Sherlock Holmes’ Pipe - Or Was It?

A brief description of the calabash pipe, as was NOT smoked by Sherlock Holmes.
I’m sure we’ve all seen the famous calabash pipe, favoured by Sherlock Holmes. You know, the curly calabash with it’s distinctive shape? It’s just as much a part of Sherlock Holmes as his deerstalker hat and magnifying glass.
The original calabash pipes are made from the calabash gourd. The African variety is regarded as the best to use, as the European (usually Greek) calabash gourds rarely have the right shape favoured by the pipe makers.
The main part of the calabash pipe is the top, bent stem of the African calabash gourd. The actual bowl, in which the tobacco is smoked, is an insert, often of meerschaum or porcelain. Which is inserted into the hollowed out gourd stem, with the aid of a cork gasket.

Many large companies are using live music to spice up an event. By using such entertainment, it is also easy to disguise team building. After all, live music is usually at every great event, so this is no exception. Team building and corporate entertainment go hand in hand.
With the popularity of corporate events steadily rising, it is no wonder that businesses are now going all out with their planning.
Many large companies are using live music to spice up an event. This even means hiring a mainstream band for thousands of dollars and perhaps adding activities like a carnival or a beach trip. By using such entertainment, it is also easy to disguise team building. Many people cringe at the thought of playing name games all day at a company retreat. Therefore, planning a skydiving trip, paintball or something adventurous will help. Other ideas include Kayaking, canoeing, treasure hunts and sailing.

Harry Potter the movie is one of the movies that created different views to the people when it comes to the supernatural world of humanity. The movie is no doubt a good movie to be watched by the whole family. The visual effects are enchanting that you would be carried away and catch your breath as you watch it. It is a very good movie for everyone in deed.
But do you know that in some part of the world there are persons who believe on the power beyond? That a person long dead could be called up by doing a certain ritual? That you could be able to ask question about some of the problems when the person is still alive? You have to experience it.

I’m currently on a plane that is bringing me home to my luxurious mansion nestled in the Hollywood Hills. Well, actually my studio in the valley is “cozy” and I’m pretty sure my neighbors aren’t celebrities; unless you take into consideration appearances on Cops or America’s Most Wanted. I haven’t made it yet, but my day will come soon enough. I’m just glad this plane is distancing me from West Virginia as much as possible; 3,000 miles of pure Middle America should suffice.

Perhaps it is born from having a warped sense of humor. Or, more likely, it may come from a deep inborn resistance to rules and authority. I always hated staying “within the lines” and simply could not resist the urge to distort or embellish reality.
Andy Warhol once stated that “everyone gets fifteen minutes of fame”. I’m still waiting on mine. My hopes for someday “emerging” as a serious artist and being recognized by an adoring public have long-since surrendered to the practical realities of being able to eat regularly and having a decent roof over my head. I can actually pinpoint the day my artistic Warhol aspirations were dragged whining into the light of practical reality. I was working on a portrait, a painting of a Native American woman. My sixteen-year-old son paused to see what I was painting. He stood for a moment studying her, then patted me on the back and said, “nice caricature, Dad.” Of all the artistic criticism I’ve ever received, that has been the most helpful. I have been focusing my efforts on drawing caricatures ever since.

We have read of the Young King of Lihterb
and his scribes, their journals, some of war
and of pain, and some of joy and merriment,
and some of betrayal, guilt of past adventures,
of all those things, of all things that men sayith,
King Nirut, his ways were thought of heavy of
adventures in days where lords, ladies, and kings
marveled at such heroes and he became their legend,
the King of Kings, of the Black Galaxy…!
He loved his women and music, to him they
gave honor; he even learned to play the harp!
Nirut was a king in the vast cosmos (in the
Second Era): lording over everybody, a
powerful man, hard eyes, not large, as many;
his father was the Blue King, first conqueror.

Hiranyaksa means one who has his eyes always on gold. Many years ago when I first joined the movement I would feel a definite antipathy towards persons like Hiranyaksa. Now I feel quite different (hopefully I have not become a demon!).
When I read about Hiranyaksa and his ilk I feel sorry for how they are suffering due to their great desires and needs. So what we did today in class is to analyze the needs that Hiranyaksa had that caused him to have such emotional outbursts against God. These emotional outbursts were actually unfortunate expressions of his unmet needs.

Almost Everywhere is a well know (though modestly advanced) mathematical concept - Here’s one way to get it, though it can be admittedly confusing. What we mostly deal with are integers and fractions - rational numbers. There are an infinite number of those, but in the way we count infinities, there are infinitely more real numbers. We say that real numbers exist almost everywhere - ‘except on a set of Measure Zero”. A set of measure zero is an odd concept, actually well-defined.

Heroes is quite an amazing show…season one captured my attention and just about made me cry when I got to the finale and realized there were no more episodes that season. Luckily Season 2 came, and it’s every bit as awesome as the first! Miss the premiere? No problem, here’s a synopsis!
The premiere episode for Season 2 is called “Four Months Later” and it takes place exactly then. Dr. Suresh is touring the country, giving lectures on a deadly new virus that threatens the entire world when a man simply known as “Bob” identifies himself as a member of the Company and makes Suresh an offer he can’t refuse.

The craze to be in on every little thing recent jailbird Paris Hilton does reached a new epiphany upon her release from prison – news that she has apparently agreed to author a new book, called The Parish Hilton Prison Diet.
Rumor of the revolutionary diet fad began on the Larry King show when she commented idly, which is her usual mode of communication, that food in the lockup was not very tasty and she could hardly eat it.
An entrepreneur, alert to the copious financial rewards in satisfying the most idiotic demands of the public, approached the unreality starlet with the idea that her culinary experience had the makings of a new fad diet. It would be easy to put together. All she would have to do is remember the meals she was accosted with during her imprisonment.
