Digital Photography - Little Marketing Steps That Will Boost Your Photography Sales Part 8

A great secret weapon for digital photographers is to use a squeeze page (or opt in or sign up page) on their website. This where you basically take one page of your photo website and make it specifically for visitors to sign up or subscribe to your mailing list.
In case you're wondering “but why do that?” we have to first look at what you should be trying to do, which should be building your mailing list, or list of preferred customers and clients. You're doing that already, right? If you're not - get to it now - because it'll do you good in the long run, believe me!
The squeeze page is a little unusual for photographers but it can work well if you are as passionate about building your list of subscribers as yours truly! You see, having a mailing list means exactly that - you can email your customers whenever you want for as long as you want. After all, they signed up because they were interested in what YOU had to offer, right?
How the squeeze page works is that it sort of 'encourages' visitors to your photo site to subscribe. You want them to subscribe NOW because the nature of the web is that other websites are but a click away. You want them to register their interest in what you have to offer before they vanish in a trail of e-dust in the hungry pursuit of new adventures!
To 'tempt' the visitor to subscribe you can offer a small report or ebook in exchange for their email and name. For example, you could say 'enter your details in the form below and instantly download the 10 essential digital photography tips every photographer needs to know!'
Of course you need to set up the download and prepare your ebook but that's easily done. You can make the squeeze page the first page of your site that people view - so that they have to opt in (or sign up) to read the rest of your site, or just have it as an additional page on your photo site. Either way, try one and see how it goes!
